Stories of the Titanic are legendary because this ship was a prodigy from the start. It was the largest, most luxurious ship of its time. So confident in its structure, the Titanic’s builders did not include enough lifeboats and chose instead to make more room on deck for passengers. It has been reported that one man said, “God Himself couldn’t sink this ship.”  Yikes!

That was 100 years ago.  Still today, it is easy to think we don’t need God.  People continue to become more and more self-reliant and the Bible warns us about this:

Proverbs 16:18
Pride goes before destruction,
and haughtiness before a fall.

Pride catches up to us.

Pride does not account for weaknesses.

Pride leads to the fall.

It is easy to be tripped up while in the proud state of mind.  Ironically, proud people seldom realize that pride is their problem, although everyone around them is well aware of it.  Beware of feeling and thinking that nothing can stop you, that you are unsinkable.
